Project Description
Real Club de Golf Cerdaña was established in the 1950’s in the valley of Cerdaña, in the Pyrenees mountains, 170 km North of Barcelona, and just by the border with France.
The course was founded by a group of members based in Barcelona, with large second homes in this area, where mountain trekking and skiing have always been very popular. The first 18 hole design was carried out by the most renowned Spanish architect Javier Arana. After the area became a popular holiday area for Barcelona citizens, golf became very successful and the board of the golf club required an expansion to 27 holes.
Our team was awarded the design of additional 9 holes in 1992. We kept the style features of Javier Arana introducing larger greens and larger natural water features, with a playing distance adapted to new materials. The site is at 1.100 m elevation above sea level, making effective playing distance shorter. The impressive mountain background gave us the opportunity of building a beautiful 9 hole course, 36 par with 3.240 m playing distance.
These 9 holes can be connected to the existing 18 hole design creating three consistent 18 hole courses.
Later we remodelled holes 7, 15 and 17th of the existing 18 hole design.
RCG Cerdanya is one of the most valued golf courses in Spain.
