Project Description
Isla del Fraile is a nice and picturesque area nearby the town of Aguilas (Murcia) in southeast Spain, by the Mediterranean Sea.
A developer group from the North of Spain planned a Real Estate development and was urged by the municipality to create a golf course. As only 8 hectares were free for other uses than residential a par 3 course was the only possibility for such a requirement.
Our team was awarded the design and construction supervision of a the new course, a 9 hole par 3 course, putting and chipping greens, and clubhouse.
With no vegetation at the site and severe elevation differences between the edges of the terrain, large earthworks and a full shaping of the project area were carried out together with the planting of a large number of palm trees and bushes.
The course was meant for the real estate owners and other players, but some time after the opening in 2008, the financial crisis of 2008 closed down sales on the real estate market and was finally closed in 2014.
