Project Description
Nuevo Portil Golf Course is located 110 km south of Seville, in the Atlantic coast of Huelva, in southwest Spain.
In 1999 a Seville-based Spanish development group started a mixed-use residential project, with lots, Hotel and an 18 hole commercial golf course, selecting our team for designing the golf course.
The urban zoning plan set a very strict limitation for the golf development, as the zoning layout was carried out by an unexperienced planning architect.
As security corridors were narrow, the design took advantage of the existing pine tree wood, creating a design with rather narrow fairways that allowed creating a tree buffer wide enough to prevent security issues to external properties.
The course is a 71 par, 5.841 meter par 36. Our design used the trees and hilly terrain to create impressive holes, were elevation changes are subtle but interesting, and large contoured greens makes the course a technical challenge for all type of players.
